Abstract
Konflik sengketa Kepulauan Malvinas antara Inggris dan Argentina merupakan konflik yang tidak berkesudahan semenjak masuknya Inggris ke Kepulauan Malvinas dan mengambil klaim kepemilikan atas kepulauan tersebut secara unilateral. Melihat hal tersebut, Argentina merasa bahwa Inggris telah merampas hak kedaulatan Argentina atas Kepualauan Malvinas yang dirasa merupakan bagian yang integral dari Negara Argentina. Inggris memberikan referendum pada tahun 2013 kepada warga Malvinas untuk menunjukkan kepada Argentina bahwa penduduk Kepulauan Malvinas telah memutuskan bahwa Malvinas ditakdirkan menjadi milik Inggris dan hasil keputusan tersebut merupakan keputusan yang final. Menyikapi hal tersebut, Argentina merujuk ke Rusia yang memiliki pengalaman yang sama dengan mereka terkait okupasinya di Krimea. Rusia berjanji akan mendukung Argentina dalam bentuk apapun untuk melawan Inggris dengan memberikan pasokan senjata dan sejumlah uang dalam rangka peningkatan kemampuan pertahanan nasional serta perbaikan ekonomi Argentina di sektor energi pasca Inggris memiliki hak pengelolaan penuh atas eksplorasi minyak dan gas di Perairan Malvinas. Melalui teori Balance of Interest, skripsi ini akan mengkaji respon yang Argentina dalam menanggapi ancaman yang ditimbulkan oleh Inggris melalui keberadaannya di Kepuluan Malvinas. Teori ini pun juga akan mengkaji motif dari aksi yang Argentina ambil dalam rangka merespon ancaman Inggris.
English Abstract
The conflict over the Malvinas Islands dispute between Britain and Argentina is a neverending conflict since Britain's occupation on the South Atlantic Islands and took ownership claims over the islands unilaterally. Seeing this, Argentina proves that Britain has usurped Argentina's sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands which are considered an inseparable part of the State of Argentina. Britain gave a referendum in 2013 to the residents of the Malvinas to show Argentina that residents of the Malvinas Islands had decided that the Malvinas were destined to belong to the UK and the final result was a final decision. In response to this, Argentina discussed with Russia the same experience with them regarding their occupation in Crimea. Russia promises to support Argentina in the form of helping against the UK by providing supplies and increasing money in order to increase security in Argentina by advancing the energy sector in Argentina in which Argentina experienced economic problem after the UK has the full right to manage oil and gas in the Malvinas. The theory of Balance of Interest will examine the response made by Argentina caused by the UK through its resolution in the Malvinas Islands. This theory will also examine the motives of the actions taken by Argentina in response to the British threat.
