Indonesian Abstract

Reaksi hidrodeoksigenasi (HDO) merupakan salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk mereduksi ikatan rangkap dan mengeliminasi atom oksigen dalam satu tahap reaksi. Dalam penelitian ini, reaksi HDO senyawa fenol dilakukan menggunakan tiga jenis katalis, yaitu 15Ni/SiO2, 15Ni/ZrO2, dan 15Ni/Al2O3. Ketiga katalis disintesis dengan metode impregnasi basah menggunakan pelarut air. Karakterisasi katalis dengan XRD menunjukkan bahwa logam Ni terimpregnasi pada pengemban oksida SiO2 dengan nilai 2 = 44,26o, 51,72o, dan 76,5o; ZrO2 dengan nilai 2 = 44,55o, 51,9o, dan 76,4o; dan Al2O3 dengan nilai 2 = 44,12o, 51,72o, dan 76,78o. Uji aktivitas katalis untuk reaksi HDO senyawa fenol menggunakan pelarut air pada sistem autoclave oil batch reactor dilakukan selama 2 jam dengan variasi temperatur 150 oC, 180 oC, dan 200 oC pada tekanan gas H2 50 psi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis produk HDO dengan GC-MS, reaksi menggunakan katalis 15Ni/SiO2 lebih selektif menghasilkan produk hidrogenasi dibandingkan produk HDO. Reaksi dengan katalis 15Ni/SiO2 pada suhu 200 oC merupakan kondisi optimum untuk menghasilkan produk dengan konversi sebesar 52,2%. Selektivitas tertinggi dihasilkan untuk produk 2-metil-1-butanol sebesar 53%.

English Abstract

Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is the reaction which can be used to reduce double bonds and eliminate oxygen atoms in one step reaction. In this study, the HDO reaction of phenols was carried out with three different catalysts, that is, 15Ni/SiO2, 15Ni/ZrO2, and 15Ni/Al2O3. These catalysts were synthesized by wet impregnation method using water as a solvent. The characterization of the catalyst were carried out using XRD. The Ni metal was detected in SiO2 support at 2 = 44,26o, 51,72o, 76,5o; Ni in ZrO2 at 2 = 44,55o, 51,9o, 76,4o; Ni in Al2O3 at 2 = 44,12o, 51,72o, and 76,78o. The catalyst activity was examined for HDO of phenols using water as a solvent in the autoclave oil batch reactor system. The reaction was conducted for 2 hours and heated at 150 oC, 180 oC, and 200 oC with H2 gas pressure in 50 psi. Based on the analysis of HDO product using GC-MS, the reaction using 15Ni/SiO2 is highly selective for producing hydrogenation products compared to HDO products. The reaction with 15Ni/SiO2 at 200 oC gave the highest product conversion at 52.2%. The product selectivity was suggested the formation of 2-methyl-1-butanol in 53%.
