Indonesian Abstract

Kanker kolorektal adalah kondisi keganasan pada usus besar terutama pada bagian kolon serta ujung dari usus besar atau rektum yang mengarah ke anus. Prevalensi kanker kolorektal di Indonesia mencapai 9,3% dari total populasi dengan 33% penderita kanker kolorektal mengalami masalah kurang gizi.. Sehingga asupan protein berperan penting dalam mencegah pertumbuhan sel kanker dan menurunkan risiko kematian dini. Kandungan asam amino essensial seperti leusin dan asam amino non-essensial yaitu arginin dapat membantu menekan pertumbuhan sel kanker serta berfungsi meningkatkan imunitas pada kondisi kanker. Faktor yang berpengaruh pada kualitas hidup penderita kanker diantaranya adalah kondisi penurunan status gizi yang disertai dengan adanya defisiensi energi dan protein. Sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara asupan protein, status gizi, dan kualitas hidup pada pasien kanker kolorektal yang menjalani rawat jalan di RSSA Malang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif korelasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Subjek yang disertakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan pasien kanker kolorektal yang memenuhi persyaratan inklusi penelitian berjumlah 36 responden. Data asupan protein didapatkan melalui wawancara menggunakan form SQ-FFQ. Status gizi ditentukan menggunakan pengukuran lingkar lengan atas (LILA) serta untuk melihat kualitas hidup dilakukan wawancara menggunakan kuesioner EORTC-QLQ C30. Terdapat hubungan yang berarti antara asupan protein (p=0,012) dan arginin (p=0,020) terhadap status gizi. Namun tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara asupan leusin terhadap status gizi (p=0,080), frekuensi terhadap status gizi (p=0,397), dan status gizi terhadap kualitas hidup (p=0,239). Asupan protein dan arginin dapat membantu meningkatkan sintesis protein di otot sehingga berpengaruh terhadap pertambahan nilai lingkar lengan atas (LILA).

English Abstract

Colorectal cancer is a condition of malignancy of the colon especially in the colon and the end of the colon or rectum leading to the anus. The prevalence of colorectal cancer in Indonesia reaches 9.3% of the total population with 33% of colorectal cancer patients experiencing malnutrition problems. So protein intake plays an important role in preventing the growth of cancer cells and reduce the risk of premature death. Essential amino acid content such as leucine and non-essential amino acids that arginine can help suppress the growth of cancer cells and improve immune function in cancer conditions. Factors that affect the quality of life of cancer patients such as the condition of the decline in nutritional status that is accompanied by the deficiency of energy and protein. So this study aims to see the relationship between protein intake, nutritional status, and quality of life in patients with colorectal cancer who undergoing outpatient in RSSA Malang. The method used in this research is descriptive correlational with cross-sectional approach. Subjects included in this study were colorectal cancer patients who met the inclusion requirements of the study amounted to 36 respondents. Data of protein intake was obtained through interview using SQ-FFQ’s form. Nutritional status was determined using an midupper arm circumference measurement (MUAC) as well as for quality of life interviews using an EORTC-QLQ C30 questionnaire. There was a significant relationship between protein intake (p = 0.012) and arginine (p = 0.020) on nutritional status. However, there was no significant correlation between leucine intake on nutritional status (p = 0,080), frequency of nutritional status (p = 0,397), and nutritional status on quality of life (p = 0,239). Intake of protein and arginine can help increase protein synthesis in muscle so that effect on the value of mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC).
