Indonesian Abstract

Penyakit kardiovaskuler merupakan penyakit yang dapat disebabkan oleh tingginya kadar kolesterol total darah. Kolesterol darah dapat diturunkan dengan konsumsi serat pangan yang terkandung dalam tepung kulit mangga manalagi. Tepung kulit mangga manalagi mengandung total serat sebesar 72,2 g per 100 g tepung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian seduhan tepung kulit mangga manalagi terhadap kadar kolesterol total tikus putih (Ratus Norvegicus Strain Wistar) jantan yang diberi diet tinggi lemak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode true experimental dengan rancangan post test only control group design. Jumlah sampel 25 ekor tikus yang dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok K(-) diberi pakan diet normal, K(+) diberi pakan diet tinggi lemak, perlakuan 1 (P1) diberi diet tinggi lemak dan tepung kulit mangga manalagi 0,4 g, perlakuan 2 (P2) diberi diet tinggi lemak dan tepung kulit mangga manalagi 0,8 g serta perlakuan 3 (P3) diberi diet tinggi lemak dan tepung kulit mangga manalagi 1,6 g secara sonde 2 kali sehari selama 6 minggu. Kadar kolesterol total diukur menggunakan metode COD (Cholesterol Oxidase/ Peroxidase) dan analisis statistik menggunakan uji Kruskal Wallis. Pada hasil analisis statistik diketahui median kolesterol total tikus yaitu K(-)=38 mg/dl, K(+)=50 mg/dl, P1=46 mg/dl dan P2=37 mg/dl dan diperoleh nilai p=0,94. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut disimpulkan bahwa terdapat kecenderungan penurunan kadar kolesterol total namun secara statistik tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan.

English Abstract

Cardiovascular disease can be caused by the high levels of total blood cholesterol. Blood cholesterol can be lowered by the consumption of dietary fiber contained in manalagi mango peel powder. Manalagi mango peel powder contain 72,2 g total dietary fiber per 100 g powder. The aim of this research was to know the effect of giving manalagi mango peel powder steeping to total cholesterol levels on male white rats of Wistar strain Rattus Norvegicus with high fat diet. This research used true experimental method with post test only control group design. Samples were 25 male rats divided in 5 groups : negative control group K(-) were given normal diet, positive control group K(+) were given high fat diet, P1 group were given high fat diet and 0,4 g manalagi mango peel powder, P2 group were given high fat diet and 0,8 g manalagi mango peel powder, P3 group were given high fat diet and 1,6 g manalagi mango peel powder. Treatments were given by sonde twice a day for six weeks. Total cholesterol levels were measured by using COD (Cholesterol Oxidase/ Peroxidase) method and data was analyzed by Kruskal Wallis test. The statistic result showed that the median of total cholesterol levels were K(-) = 38 mg/dl, K(+) = 50 mg/dl, P1= 46 mg/dl and P2 = 37 mg/dl and p value was 0,94. Based on these results it was concluded that there is a trend of decrease in total cholesterol levels but there were no statistically significant differences.
