Sari, Retty Anggun (2018) Analisis Pengaruh Waktu Fermentasi Terhadap Volume Biogas dan Kadar Metana yang Dihasilkan dari Mikroalga Dunaliella salina dan Limbah Cair Tahu. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

English Abstract

Global energy rising leads to the availability of fossil fuels depleting because it cannot be renewed and the burning of fossil fuels can cause a climate change due to the release of CO2 into the air. Therefore, we need to replace fossil fuels with renewable and sustainable alternative energy such as biogas. Microalgae hype of recent years has revived fuel production research, because microalgae has a fast growth rate and contain high organic matters, so it has potential to be used as substrate especially for biogas. Tofu wastewater contains a lot of organic materials and naturally become a habitat of methanogen bacteria. This research was conducted in 7, 14, and 21 days of anaerobic fermentation to get the affect of fermentation time toward biogas volume and methane content. The produce of biogas was performed inside 250 ml strirring reactor where the substrate was mixed from 1 gram dry mass of Dunaliella salina, 100 ml tofu wastewater, and 20 ml activated sludge as inoculum supplies. The determination of methane content was used FIDGas Chromatography, while the determination of biogas volume was calculated from the decrease of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) value. The analysis method used descriptive analysis with parameters were temperature, pressure, pH, COD, biogas volume, and methane content. The result showed that the methane content and biogas volume had a linier relation with fermentation time. The highest methane content and biogas volume were reached on the 21st days of fermentation were 0.19 L of biogas and 4.57% of methane respectively, which were obtained at the lowest COD value of 2600 mg/L and pH 6.8.
