Abstract

Kebutuhan terhadap kualitas metal cutting yang berhubungan dengan kekasaran permukaan (surface roughness) yang terus meningkat dan toleransi produk yang lebih presisi, telah mendorong teknik pemotongan logam untuk secara terus menerus mengembangkan metode serta teknologi proses pemotongan logam. Pada proses milling terdapat parameter pemotongan dan geometri pahat yang dapat mempengaruhi hasil kekasaran permukaan pada hasil akhir produk. Dan proses pemesinan ini akan menentukan kekasaran permukaan pada level tertentu. Jika kekasaran permukaan yang tinggi akan mengakibatkan kinerja komponen pasangan produk yang dihasilkan akan terganggu Penelitian ini menggunakan pahat ball nose end mill dari bahan karbida dengan pemakanan climb miring pada benda kerja Al 6061. Proses pemakanan ditentukan dengan variasi spindle speed : 700, 800 dan 900 rpm; feed rate : 100, 200 ,300 mm/min; dan kemiringan pahat : 1°, 3° dan 5°. Masing – masing spesimen diuji kekasaran permukaannya (Ra). Hasil pengujian dan pengolahan data penelitian diplot ke grafik dengan hasil sebagai berikut, feed rate, spindle speed dan kemiringan pahat berpengaruh terhadap kekasaran permukaan hasil benda kerja. Semakin besar nilai feed rate akan menyebabkan kekasaran permukaan Al 6061 semakin besar. Semakin besar nilai spindle speed dan sudut kemiringan pahat akan menurunkan kekasaran permukaan Al 6061.

English Abstract

The need toward the quality of the metal cutting that has the connection with the surface roughness that keep increasing and the tolerance of the products that are more precision, has been encouraged the metal cutting technique to keep developing the method and strategy of the metal cutting process. In the milling process, there are a cutting parameter and the chisel geometry which can affect the result of the surface roughness in the final result of the product. This machining process will decide the surface roughness into the certain level. If the surface roughness is high, that will cause the distraction in the performance of the product pairs that are produced. This study uses ball nose end mill chisel made from carbide material with the decreasing of tilt climb to the workpiece Al 6061. The decreasing process is specified with the variety of the spindle speed: 700, 800 and 900 rpm; feed rate : 100, 200 ,300 mm/min; and the chisel tilt : 1°, 3° dan 5°. The surface roughness of each specimen are tested (Ra). The result and the processing of the research data are plotted into the graphic which has the result as shown as: feed rate, spindle speed and chisel tilt affect the result toward the surface roughness of the material work. The bigger the amount of the feed rate, it will cause the surface roughness Al 6061 to get bigger than ever. The bigger the amount of the spindle speed and the angle of the chisel tilt, it will decrease the surface roughness Al 6061.
