Abstract

Sweet corn is a plant widely cultivated in Indonesia, which has high economic value. The process of planting the corn crop can not be separated from other plant growth is not desired or commonly known as weeds. Weeds that grow in cultivated land, without any control will cause competencies. One way to cope with the growth of weeds is to control the use of herbicides. Herbicide applications are often used by farmers to weed the corn crop is the active ingredient atrazine herbicide, for herbicide is first recognized by farmers as an appropriate herbicide on corn and is capable of selectively controlling weeds. How else atrazine herbicide applications in an effort to weed control is to do the mixing, mixed with the herbicide atrazine herbicide mesotrion. As a result of research Hasannudin (2013), suggests that mixing atrazine herbicide active ingredient and dose mesotrion 0.50 L can improve the percentage of weed control and reduce the population of weeds, weeds, and weed dry weight. The purpose of this research is (1) To determine the effectiveness of the herbicide active ingredient Atrazine and Mesotrion against toxicity and yield in controlling weeds in crops of sweet corn varieties Bonansa (2) To determine the effect of a dose of herbicide active ingredient Atrazine and Mesotrion against toxicity and yield of sweet corn Bonansa varieties. The hypothesis is (1) Application of active ingredient herbicide Atrazine and Mesotrion at certain doses capable mengendalika weeds effectively. (2) Application of active ingredient herbicide Atrazine and Mesotrion influence the toxicity and yield of sweet corn varieties Bonansa. The research was conducted from July to October 2016 in the Village Pendem, District Junrejo, Batu regency. The tools used in this study include hoes, analytical balance, knife, tape measure, ruler, cameras, paper label, oven, knapsack sprayer, and Term Sorong. While the materials used include sweet corn seed, herbicide active ingredient atrazine (JATRAX 380 SC), herbicide active ingredient mesotrion (LEKTOR 480 SC), insecticides, fertilizer N (Urea: 46% N), fertilizer P (SP 36: 36% P2O5 ) and K fertilizers (KCl: 50% K2O). This study uses a randomized block design simple by placing a combination of proportion doses of herbicides as a treatment and consists of 8 treatments and 3 replications, namely P0: without weed control, P1: manual weeding, P2: 1400 g herbicide active ingredient atrazine 380 gl-1, P3 : 1400 g herbicide active ingredient mesotrion 480 gl-1, P4: 1800 g herbicide active ingredient atrazine 380 gl-1, P5: 1800 g herbicide active ingredient mesotrion 480 gl-1, P6: 2200 g herbicide active ingredient atrazine 380 gl-1 , P7: 2200 g herbicide active ingredient mesotrion 480 gl-1. Observations were made at the age of 14, 28, 42, 56 days after planting and at harvest (75 days after planting), which includes pengamtan weeds and corn plants. Observations weeds include: analysis of vegetation, and the total dry weight of weeds. Observations corn plants include: observation and harvest results consisting of yield per ha, cob diameter, cob length, fresh weight cob with husks, cobs without husks fresh weight). The data were analyzed using the F test at level α = 0.05 to determine whether there is a real effect of treatment. If there is a real effect, then continued with test between treatments using LSD at the level of p = 0.05. Doses effective in controlling weeds and increase crop yields of corn on the herbicide active ingredient is 480 g.ha Mesotrion-1, while for the active ingredient herbicide Atrazine is 570 g.ha-1. Mesotrion herbicide active ingredient at a dose of 960 g.ha-1 causes influence the toxicity of the sweet corn crop with the highest value of 2 on 1 MSA observation. While the active ingredient herbicide Atrazine at a dose of 760 g.ha-1 shows the effect of toxicity in sweet corn with the highest value of 2 on 1 MSA observation.
