Escherichia coli (E. coli) adalahbakteri gram negatiffakultatifanaerobyang seringmenyebabkaninfeksisaluranpercernaan.InfeksiE. Coliumumnyabersifatsistemikdanmenimbulkanbakterimia, salahsatunyaadalahkolikobasilosis.Infeksi yang disebabkanolehbakteridapatdiatasidenganantibakteri, termasukantibakteri herbal. Salah satutanaman yang didugamengandungantibakteradalahkulitbiji (pericarp) jambu mete (Anacardium occidentalle). Penelitianinibertujuanuntukmembuktikanbahwaekstrakkulitbiji (pericarp) jambu mete memilikiefekantibakteriterhadapE. coli(EC-2-PKH). Penelitianinimenggunakanmetodedilusitabungdenganvariasikonsentrasiekstrak15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, dan 40%.Hasilpenelitianmenunjukkanbahwa Kadar Hambat Minimal (KHM) tidakdapatditentukan, sedangkan Kadar Bunuh Minimal (KBM) diperolehpadakonsentrasi 40%.Hasilanalisis data denganuji ANOVA danPost Hoc Duncan, menunjukkanterdapatperbedaan yang bermakna di setiapkonsentrasiekstrak.Ujikorelasiregresimenunjukkanhubungan yang eratantarakonsentrasiekstrakdenganjumlahkoloni yang tumbuhdanmemenuhipersamaan y= -0,424x + 2,830. Kesimpulandaripenelitianiniadalahekstrakpericarpjambu mete memilikiefekantimikrobaterhadapE. coli (EC-2-PKH).

English Abstract

Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a facultative anaerobic gram-negative bacteria that often causes infections of the gastrointestinal tract. E. coli infection, generally, is systemic and raises bacterimia, for examplekolikobasilosis. Infection caused by bacteria which can overcome with antibacterial, including antibacterial herbs. One of the plant were the allegedly containing antibacterial is cashewpericarp(Anacardiumoccidentalle). This research is to prove that extracts cashewpericarpseeds have effect antibacterial against E. coli (EC-2-PKH). This research use the tube dilution methodwith variantconcentrations 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%,35%, and 40%. The results showed that the Minimum Inhibition Concentration (KHM) cannot be determined, whereas the Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (KBM) obtained at concentrations of 40%. The results of data analysis with test ANOVA and Post Hoc Duncan, showed there was a meaningful difference at each concentration of the extract. Regression correlation test showed a close relationship between the concentration of the extract to the number of colonies that grow and satisfy the equation y=-0,424x + 2,830. The conclusion of this research is to extract the pericarp cashew have antimicroba effects against E. coli (EC-2-PKH).
