Abstract

Semut api (solenopsis sp.) Dapat berbahaya bagi pekerja di luar ruangan. Untuk banyak hama, total eliminasi hampir mustahil, tetapi dimungkinkan untuk mengendalikannya. Oleh karena itu, banyak penolak kimia dan non-kimia telah banyak digunakan di depan umum untuk mencegah dari sengatan serangga, tetapi sebagian besar pengusir yang digunakan saat ini dikembangkan dari metode kimia dan mereka memiliki banyak efek samping pada tubuh manusia. Oleh karena itu, zat alami alternatif sedang diteliti untuk memberantas hama ini. Sebuah penelitian tentang efek dari ekstrak konsentrasi mentimun (cucumis sativus) yang berbeda sebagai penolak solenopsis sp.has telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian laboratorium eksperimental menggunakan tiga konsentrasi mentimun yang berbeda (65%, 70%, 75%) untuk mengusir semut api untuk jangka waktu 6 jam. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan tes anova satu arah. Berdasarkan analisis, konsentrasi berbeda memberikan efek repelling yang berbeda. Tidak ada perbedaan penolakan yang signifikan di antara konsentrasi 65%, 70% dan 75%, tetapi waktu paparan memberikan perbedaan yang signifikan pada repellency. Berdasarkan tes tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa dosis optimal mentimun sebagai penolak adalah 65% dan waktu terbaik adalah jam pertama selama enam jam percobaan. Dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa mentimun (cucumis sativus) memang memiliki efek repellence yang cukup terhadap semut api (solenopsis sp.).

English Abstract

Fire Ants( Solenopsis sp. ) can be hazardous to outdoor workers. For many pests, total elimination is almost impossible, but it is possible to control them. Therefore, many chemical and non-chemical repellents have been widely used in public to prevent from insect stings, but most of the repellent used today are developed from chemical methods and they have a lot of side effects on human body. Therefore, alternative natural substances are being researched to eradicate these pests. A research on the effect of different concentrations of cucumber (Cucumis sativus) extract as a repellent towards Solenopsis sp.has been performed. This research was an experimental laboratory research using three different concentration of cucumber (65%,70%,75%) to repel the fire ants for a period of 6 hours. The obtained data was analyzed using One Way ANOVA test. Based on the analysis, different concentrations gave different repelling effects. There is no significant difference of repellency among concentrations 65%, 70% and 75% , but the time of exposure gave significant difference on repellency. Based on those test it can be concluded that the optimum dose of cucumber as a repellent is 65% and the best time is the first hour during the six hours of the experiment. From this research, it can be concluded that cucumber (Cucumis sativus) does have sufficient repellence effect towards Fire Ants (Solenopsis sp.).
