Indonesian Abstract

Penyakit periodontal merupakan penyakit yang menyerang jaringan periodonsium atau jaringan penyangga gigi. Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans adalah salah satu bakteri patogen yang dapat menyerang jaringan periodonsium. Berhubungan dengan tingginya kejadian infeksi, masalah yang terjadi adalah resistensi terhadap antibiotik akibat penanganan yang tidak adekuat. Mengkudu merupakan salah satu tanaman yang sering digunakan sebagai terapi herbal. Pada daun mengkudu memiliki beberapa kandungan senyawa aktif sebagai zat antibakteri diantaranya minyak atsiri, flavonoid, saponin, triterpenoid, fenol, tannin, dan glikosida. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui potensi ekstrak daun mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) sebagai antimikroba terhadap Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans secara in vitro. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan post-test design group secara in vitro. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah dilusi tabung dengan konsentrasi ekstrak daun mengkudu yaitu 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12% dan kontrol negatif 0% serta kontrol positif klorheksidin glukonat 0.2%. Sampel bakteri berasal dari Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Airlangga. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya penurunan jumlah koloni Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans yang signifikan (p<0,05). Hasil dari Penelitian didapatkan KBM ekstrak daun mengkudu pada konsentrasi 8% dan berpotensi sebagai antimikroba terhadap Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans secara in vitro.

English Abstract

Periodontal disease is a disease that affects periodontium tissue or dental support tissue. Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans is one of the pathogenic bacteria that can attack the periodontium tissue. Associated with the high incidence of infection, the problem is resistance to antibiotics due to inadequate treatment. Noni is one of plant that is often used as herbal therapy. In noni leaves have some content of active compounds as antibacterial substances such as essential oils, flavonoids, saponins, triterpenoids, phenols, tannins, and glycosides. The purpose of this research is to know the potency of Noni leaf extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) as antimicrobial to Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans in vitro. This research is a laboratory experimental research with post-test design group in vitro. The research method used is dilution of tube with concentration of noni leaf extract that is 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10%, 12% and 0% as negative control and positive control of chlorhexidine gluconate 0,2%. Samples of bacteria come from Microbiology Laboratory Faculty of Dentistry Airlangga University. The results showed a significant decrease in the number of colonies of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (p <0.05). The result of the research showed that noni leaf extract’s MBC is at concentration of 8% and this proves its potency as antimicrobial to Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans in vitro.
