Indonesian Abstract

Ini menunjukkan bahwa ketiga faktor tersebut bersifat sebagai risk reducing. ii Sedangkan faktor produksi benih, pupuk kandang, dan herbisida bersifat sebagai risk increasing. Nilai koefisien variasi menunjukkan penggunaan faktor produksi pupuk kandang yang memiliki tingkat risiko paling kecil, sedangkan faktor produksi herbisida memiliki tingkat risiko paling tinggi. Preferensi risiko produksi dibedakan menjadi tiga bagian yaitu terhadap alokasi penggunaan input, efisiensi teknis, dan faktor sosial. Petani dengan preferensi risk seeker menggunakan input produksi lebih besar daripada petani dengan preferensi risk averse. Petani dengan prereferensi risk seeker lebih efisien secara teknis daripada preferensi risk averse. Berhubungan dengan faktor sosial, petani dengan preferensi risk seeker cenderung memiliki jumlah tanggungan keluarga yang lebih besar, tingkat pendidikan lebih tinggi, serta memiliki pengalaman usahatani jagung lebih lama daripada petani dengan preferensi risk averse.

English Abstract

Agricultural risk are influenced by two main factors: human and natural resources. One of the natural conditions that cause increased risks in agriculture is climate change. Maize is one of the food crops that can be affected by climate change. According to the Agricultural Research Agency (2012), climate change increases the pest population which causes the development of pests in the field more quickly attack agricultural commodities such as maize, especially morgue.. These conditions are in conflict with the impacts of climate change on agricultural commodity production. the risk preference for Maize farmers against production risks affects farmers' decisions in the allocation of production inputs. The formulation of the problems are how the risk level and risk preference of maize production. The objectives of this research are to: (1) analyze the factors of production that influence the level of risk of corn production and (2) analyze the farmer preference to the risk of maize production. Data analysis methods used include Just and Pope (1979) production risk function model and utility function model of expected profit to analyze production risk and farmer preference to production risk. Limitation of the problem covering the research area is one of the Maize farming areas, precisely in Sendang Agung Village, the research focus includes analysis of production risk, farmer preference to production risk, and the correlation of technical efficiency and socioeconomic factors to production risk preference, analytical method used in this research is a model of production function developed by Just and Pope (1979). Research on Maize production risk analysis conducted during the months of October to November 2017. Determination of research location done purposively or purposive in Sendangagung Village, District Paciran, Lamongan regency. The population used in this research is Maize farmers in Sendangagung Village, Paciran Subdistrict, Lamongan Regency which grows maize in November 2016 - February 2017 and incorporated in member of farmer group. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling, primary and secondary data recall. Production factors used in this study include land area and manures are significant in affecting the risk of maize production in the research area. Production factors such as land area, chemical fertilizer, and labor have negative regression coefficient value which means as risk reducing. While the factors of production of seed, manure, and herbicide are as risk increasing. The value of coefficient of variation shows the use of production factor of manure. It has the smallest risk level iv whereas herbicide production factor has the highest risk level. Production risk preferences are divided into three parts: the allocation of input use, technical efficiency, and social factors. Farmers with risk seeker preferences use inputs of production greater than farmers with risk averse preferences. Farmers with preferred seeker risk are more technically efficient than risk averse preferences. In terms of social factors, farmers with preferential risk seekers tend to have larger family dependents, higher education levels, and have more Maize farming experience than farmers with risk averse preferences
