Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui representasi dari tokoh perempuan dalam Kisah Si Palui pada harian Banjarmasin Post. Dalam Kisah Si Palui tokoh perempuan menjadi salah satu tokoh yang kerap muncul dalam setiap adegan dalam cerita tersebut. Perempuan menjadi salah satu tokoh pendamping atau tokoh pelengkap dalam Kisah Si Palui. Adapun rumusan masalah dalam penelitian kali ini adalah : Bagaimana Representasi perempuan dalam Kisah Si Palui pada harian Banjarmasin Post dikaitkan dengan konteks sosial masyarakat Banjar ? Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian kali ini adalah teori Stuart Hall tentang representasi. Representasi adalah produksi makna yang ada dalam pikiran tentang objek tertentu dan disampaikan melalui bahasa. Sebuah certita, termasuk dalam proses produksi makna oleh pembuat cerita melalui simbol – simbol yang terdapat dalam bentuk bahasa, karakter tokoh, gambar, dan sebagainya. Selain itu terdapat juga proses konsumsi yang terjadi ketika pembaca menerima simbol – simbol yang disampaikan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan semiotika. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan perempuan dalam Kisah Si Palui direpresentasikan sebagai kelompok atau kelas yang berada di bawah laki – laki dan menjadi bayang – bayang lekaki. Representasi ini muncul karena nilai – nilai patriarki dan agama yang cukup kental dalam masyarakat Banjar, Hal tersebut akhirnya berdampak terhadap Kisah Si Palui yang menggambarkan perempuan sebagai orang yang lemah, selalu menjadi bahan candaan, dan berada di bawah laki – laki.
English Abstract
This study aims to determine the representation of female characters Kisah Si Palui on Banjarmasin Post daily. In Kisah Si Palui female characters become one of the characters that often appear in every scene in the story. Women become one of the accompanying figures or supplementary figures in the Kisah Si Palui. The formulation of the problem in this study is: How is the Representation of women in the Kisah Si Palui on the daily Banjarmasin Post is associated with the social context of Banjar society? The theory used in this research is Stuart Hall theory of representation. Representation is the production of meaning exists in the mind of a particular object and is conveyed through language. A story, included in the process of producing meaning by the author of the story through the symbols contained in the form of language, character figures, images, and so forth. In addition there is also a consumption process that occurs when the reader receives the symbols are delivered. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive with semiotic approach. The results of this study show women in Acts of the Palui are represented as groups or classes that are under men and become shadow of men. This representation arose because of the patriarchal and religious values deep enough in Banjar society, it ultimately affects the Kisah Si Palui who describes women as weak, always a subject of jokes, and is under men.
